Happy Heart Day!

Ah, Valentine's Day, it's always a good excuse to dig through my vast ammount of craft supplies and create some trinket for the kids to hand out at school. The girls this year made their own. While it took a lot out of me not to interfere with their creativity, their Valentine's treats turned out lovely.

I love love love the not so new, new Stampin' Up! cello bags, the perfect size for smarties, gumballs, glowsticks, pencils, and anything else you might find to fit inside. They are 8" long so we cut them in half and sealed the top closed and used the cut side as the open end. Hope that makes sense. Not only did it create the perfect size for treats, but it also made the bags go a little further. LOVE IT! My new favorite adhesive for the girls to use is glitter glue. Not only is it fairly reasonably priced, but if they put too much on when it dries it adds to the final projects embellishment.

Emily worked hard to punch out almost 100 owls from various shades of cardstock from my pink, red, and white scrap bags. Then carefully put them together. I must admit the owl builder punch from Stampin' Up! is one of my favorites! (Sorry, another plug for Stampin' Up! I can't help it, as a demonstrator, most of my supplies are from there.) Her finished Valentine's turned out so cute, I love them!

Laura came home from school with a paper heart and was determined to make Valentine's inspired by her school craft. While I was busy with other things, she took my full heart punch (yes, from Stampin' Up!)and punched out about 30 hearts by placing the punch on the floor and stepping on it! I'll admit I did help her punch out the smaller hearts, using the Stampin' Up! heart to heart punch. She also used the sweet treat cups (Stampin' Up! again) and filled them with gumballs (they do hold a treat size pack of Smarties perfectly). Giving her creative freedom was a little stressful for me, but her Valentine's turned out equally as sweet and her look of pride when she was finished was enough to erase my vision for her Valentine's. <3

So with all this, their completed Valentine's were carefully packed into their backpacks this morning to be handed out at school today. Leaving me with a few papers and punches to put away, and a happy heart day memory.

Thanks a lot Pintrest!

So, it's been a while, I'm glad I don't have any followers! LOL! Thanks to my dear friend, I have decided to update my blog so I can pin stuff on my pintrest wall??? now I'm confusing facebook terminology with pintrest terminology! I think this is the best way to add stuff or is it??? No idea what I'm doing! But it's good incentive for me to update my blog anyways. :)

I DON'T WANT TO GO TO SCHOOL!

Ahhh September, we usually get gorgeous weather for the first week or two, before the leaves start turning colors, and everything looks pretty, and I no longer have to pretend like I know anything about gardening. I love fall! Going back to school is another story...we have now been in school for 5 days, going on to day 6. So for 6 mornings of the last 8 days I have woken up to crying, sobbing, "I don't want to go to school!", oh and my favorite, "I'm going to sue Calgary Board of Education for making me start school in August!" (that one was Justin's, unfortunately the others would be my complaints...hahaha, just kidding!) With only Laura at home I've been able to scrapbook, clean a few more boxes out of my basement, and also take time to be even more inefficient! So as much as I miss my kids, and as much as I don't want to get up in the mornings...I guess going back to school isn't so bad... ;)

Happy New Year!?

Well, Christmas was fast and furious and I can't believe it's over already. I have to say, despite all of the extra running around, it was nice to really think about gifts and not just buy things for the sake of gift giving. I hope that we all can carry the Christmas spirit and good will to all men throughout the New Year!
I hope everyone had a wonderful holiday, and wish you all the best in the New Year!

I'm Not A Blogger

In the midst of a blogger world I have found myself blogging out of necessity.
I will not post pictures of my family on here or give you all of our nitty gritty details, but I will on occasion give you a little insight into what's going on in our world.
